Default Going to Stuttgart, do they...

...have any special programs for P-Car owners who would REALLY enjoy taking an afternoon tour of the countryside and autobahn in a "loaner"? Has anyone had any experience setting something like this up, or know of a good Porsche rep in the states to get things started? It would be very painful to get all the way over there and not be able to drive at all! I'd bring my own car with, but I don't think it will fit in the plane seat next to me. As always, any thoughts are appreciated.

You might want to set up a plant tour. It may be to short notice, but it's worth a try ... also I think the plant is closed in Aug. Your local dealer {or any dealer for that matter} can send you the form {via fax} that you need to send to PCNA in atlanta to request the tour. I took the tour and loved it!

As far as the car goes. Other than picking up a new one, I don't know of any program that Porsche runs to get you behind the wheel while in Germany. But you can definitely rent on from one of the rental agencies over there. Wish I had a specific name to give you, but I don't. Let me know if you can't find one ...

Also, make sure you head out to the Nurburg-ring. {sorry about my horrible spelling!}. Some where on the net there is a list of the times they are open to the public. Check that and make sure you head out when they are open, and regardless of what car you are in, you'll have a blast {if you're into the speed on the track thing}.

You can always rent a Porsche. I believe Hertz rents them in Germany. I saw a 996 in one of the rental spaces at the Frankfurt airport this May when we were returning our car. I once checked on the cost and I believe it was about $6K-$7K a week.

I think that if you sign up for any of the "tours" via Porsche (typically for folks taking factory delivery) you have the choice of using one of their cars. When we took delivery of our car in 01 there was a tour group that was being assigned factory cars, all USED.

I'm very sure that if you go to Porsche.com you will find that some of the tours have Porsches supplied.
