Default Sprint Booster Power Converter

Just wondering... has anyone had any experience with the Sprint Booster on our cars? I know it doesn't make the car go faster, but if there's an appreciable difference in the feel off the line, then $300 doesn't seem like a bad investment. And I'm assuming there's no impact to the car's reliability, etc...?

I like mine....

Does give you the feeling of more power... worth the money for me, but I got mine half price on Amazon warehouse deals.

Why not spend ~$100 more and get tuned ecu with some additional ponies in addition to the increased throttle response?

Which ecu flash is ~400$ I've only seen 850-1000$
For ~$400 I would be all over it if it got decent reviews.
Cheers

Your gonna have to hold your breath for "decent reviews" as there's not too many that get the ecu tuned.

Go here for a list:

Another is Pedro's Garage going for $499, which is still decent.

Thanks kromdom - ya missed that. That's some good info.
As for an ecu flash, everything I've seen points to approx $800+++.
(On that note, wondering who could do that in Canada (Toronto), for those Cdns out there).

Never liked those things, all it does it makes your throttle less linear. If you want more throttle, just step on the pedal harder

From an earlier post in a different thread...

When the price dropped to $220 shipped on Amazon, I figured I'd try one and take advantage of Amazon's excellent return policy if it was a POS. It really does transform my e-throttle 3.6. It's just way more fun to drive. No 'power' increase, it just remaps the throttle so power comes on much sooner and in a more linear fashion.

I think there back up to about $280 on Amazon, but color me convinced... Personally I'd put this mod above motor mounts or even a 997 shifter for added driver enjoyment.

And or for the same price, enlarged throttle body + underdrive pulley to boost some of the responsive nature.

I have contemplated having my ECU mapped or maybe the Sprint Booster, but my one question is how will it affect passing smog

If the tune is good then you should actually be running cleaner or the same than OEM in terms of air quality. Nothing special will show up on the OBD reader when they plug it in. But you definitely want to do the ECU tune last after you're done with bolt-ons as you don't want to have to pay to retune it after some mods.

In my situation, I'll be running cat-bypass with a retuned ecu with lower cat threshold levels so technically, I don't even have to put cats back on when going in for emissions since no faults will show up on their OBD reader and since no sniff test is required.

I was a HUGE skeptic of the Sprint Booster. I used to laugh at the people that bought them on their BMW's and Porsche's. I used to say "just press harder".

Well...I really didn't like my throttle response especially in stop/go traffic as well as on the road course track...so I decided heck let me try it and if it's stupid I'll return it.

In both the track and on the commute, it's made a positive difference.
I leave it on the green button (medium setting) and on my Mk2 e-gas throttle it's really helped.

nothing beats cable....but SB has really helped on egas. I have a tune but egas still a little lazy..I keep SB on red and it's perfect.
