Default Help with Choosing Suspension Kit

Hi All,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Po...item2a35224f20

Above is a link to the M030 suspension kit, but in the listing it states it's specific to the pre-facelift 996.

I own a facelift 996, as far as I was aware, the shocks are all the same, so what would make this kit specific to the pre-facelift?

I won't be using the springs, as I want to use H&R springs, so I would only use the shocks, and possibly the anti-roll bars if they will fit?

Any help appreciated,

Thanks

Keith

Link to the 02-04 suspension.

But if all you are using are the shocks, there are better choices. Koni's are great and I am sure others will join in and give you more advice

Other shocks are £1200 plus. That kit I posted is a bargain.

The car will only be used on the road.

Anyone else know the difference? Will the shocks fit? Anti-roll bars?

Thanks

Assuming the kit matches the number of drive wheels you have (2 or 4) then it will fit fine.

You can buy at that price, or lower, from the OPCs in the UK. They will supply the correct kit for your car as the shocks do vary between the 3.4 and 3.6 cars and the springs do vary depending on body and gearbox type.

Called my local OPC today, the M030 is no longer available for the facelift C2 996. It's £1300 plus VAT if it was available. Design911.co.uk still do it at £650 plus vat.

The parts guy also recommended not buying it even if it was available, saying it made the car too harsh. I've seen other posts with conflicting stories, however I think i'm still going to search for a M030 kit and swap the springs for my H&R's.

If you already like the h&r springs, go with Koni sports over the m030. I've had both shocks using m030 springs both times and the konis can be adjusted for comfort or sport.

It seems unanimous that the M030 kit is the mildest "sport" offering available, your car on H&Rs is likely already stiffer. Opinions are like a-holes, everybody's got one.

I have the M030 RoW setup on my '02 Cab, and love it. (This is the kit you'll get standard in Europe). It has substantially improved my car's handling, yet retained sufficient comfort that I'll happily tackle 600+ mile/day trips.

You might consider contacting Gert Carnewal (www.carnewal.com) for availability and pricing for your car. He's in Belgium. Many of us here in the US source our parts from him with great success. His website currently lists the M030 RoW at 1030 Euros + VAT with free shipping.

If you're not afraid to go aftermarket, check out K-Sport coilovers. I had a set on my 996C2, they were set to the medium comfort level, and the car was adjusted LOW. K-Sport was very comfortable but firm. I daily drove the car, very rarely scraped, would lift a front tire from time to time. But overall, the coilovers COMPLETELY transformed the car. If I ever get back into a 996/997 the first thing I will do is order a set of K-Sports followed with turbo wheels.
