Default Differences in OEM catalytic converters

Hey all,

I have a US (California) 3.6 996 C2 (2004), which I have imported to Germany Problem is, the catalytic converter has totally failed, and I need a new one. They are $2k EACH from Porsche in Germany, and none of the aftermarket options will pass the TÜV (it has to be an original Porsche part.) Even amongst new ones, there is a big price difference: 99611303102 costs €1750, while 99611302112 only costs €1050.

There are quite a lot of used versions available, but many different part numbers. Does anyone know if they are all compatible? What's the difference?

I am trying to see if there is a (used) cat here I the EU that will fit on my car. I think only OBDII cars have two O2 sensors (pre- and post-cat), correct? But beyond that, are there any differences, or are they all the same thing basically?

Here is the full list from the German porsche site. As I understand them, parts 21 and 22 are just the left and right side of the same part, respectively. So eliminating duplicates, the list is:

I'm not sure how much lax German emissions are but another option since you're already in Europe is to have Gert at Carnewal rebuild your cats with cell 200 cat cores.

didn't know about this either - I wonder if there is someone doing the same in the US?

on the original question, I had done a bit of research on the topic and although I couldn't find a definitive answer, my understanding is the both EU and US cats fitted on the 996 are 3-way cats but the metal composition of the cat itself is different, due to legislation constraints.

Here is from the 996 buyer's guide:
Emission control system
Exhaust system
2-pipe, 3-way catalytic converter exhaust system
2 rear mufflers

EURO II
Oxygen sensor closed-loop control with 2 pre-catalytic
converter probes
3-way catalytic converter sytem each with a catalytic
converter left + right. (RoW)

EURO III
Additional secondary air system and post catalytic control
(4 probes)
EOBD

USA LEV
Oxygen sensor closed-loop control + post catalytic converter
control
3-way catalytic converter system, each with 1 cascade
catalytic converter - left + right. (with two metal substrates)
Secondary air system
OBD II+ ORVR
Reason for researching this is that 3-way catalytic converters need "help" from the ECU to stay clean and not wear prematurely. I am still not sure if the ROW tune is compatible with US cats or not.
