Default Tiptronic issue, again...

Hello you all!

Recently bought me a 99 C4, now it turns out the the gear slips 1-5 I would say.

I get the following fault codes:
P0717 Stall speed, transmission input
P0734 Gear sel. Monitor, 4th gear

I've read some threads with similar problems, and they all ends in changing the gearbox or do a full rebuild.

I have only found C2 gearboxes around here, is it possibly to "convert" a working C2 tranny so it fits a C4?

For the record, I have had a proper workshop changed the ATF fluid twice according to the manuals.
Still same problem.

So, any ideas and pointers greatly appreciated!

mike

There doesn't seem to be a 'quick fix'.
That's what you will have to do then. After the rebuild or whatever, use the car and when you change vehicles, go for the manual. Hey what else can I say. Mike that's one of the reason we like Manual boxes in preference to auto. But you bought what you bought and I hope you get things sorted.

C4 tip gearbox for sale 1999-2001 cars.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/01-Porsche-9...0e63d4&vxp=mtr

1999-2001 tiptronics are a completely different beasts from 2002+ tips. By all mean they are much weaker transmissions. Buy the transmission from the link below (it is a BO auction, so offer the guy $1,250.00 for it), have it installed for another $1,000. Total cost to you would be about what manual transmission clutch job costs here.

I would get this one immediately, however the seller doesnt ship the gearbox. And because of my location, I cant even make the guy an offer - dooh..

Anyone in for picking it up, and send it to me?

I will, of course, pay the transport and labour involved....

The early Tips were not Mercedes. All are prone to problems if not taken care of. Cant you just swap the case end and ouput shaft to convert C2 to AWD?

Yes, you have to drop the pan to get to the filter.

Transmission flush was the first thing I did once I got my car, for PM purposes.
