SJG, if your talking about the muffler shield. You can see it much better by removing the rear bumper. After removing the bumper, you will see that the shield is attached to the car by @4 or 5 small nuts and 2 screws, if IRCC. It will be obvious why its rattling once you remove the bumper.

So i took off the rear bumper cover and did not find any loose nuts/screws on the heat shields. I'm wondering if it could be the heat shields that run along side the mufflers that are rattling.

Are you sure that it isn't the "chrome" exhaust tips? There was another R'Lister that had his welded due to vibration.
