Default Engine Stalling

I have a 2001 911 C2. At times after I start the car it will immediately stall. This only happens if the car is warm, never happens after a cold start. Once I restart, does not stall again. Car is an automatic with 78,000 miles. Anyone have an idea what may cause this and if this is something to be overly concerned with. Thanks.

Have you been able to get any codes ? It is unusual.

You need to be concerned enough to get it looked into and diagnosed and fixed.

If the engine stalls like someone flipped a light switch that reads like a critical sensor is momentarily falling. My WAG would then be the crankshaft position sensor. There would be no codes (at least no CEL) for this does not affect emissions, but there might be a Porsche proprietary code that records the fact the DME encountered a missing sensor signal/input.

Another explanation could be a failing fuel pump. The stall with the engine shut off (the ignition key is turned off) resurrects the fuel pump, or maybe its relay and that's that.

Last how's the ignition switch feel? Do you have the car key on a heavy key chain/ring?
