Change targa roof motors DIY?
Hi
My 996 targa has been in for repair of the targa roof and I will pick it up tomorrow. The Porsche center has changed the complete mechanism incl. wires and guides so the operation and alignment should be as good as new :-)
The motors that operates the wires are however a bit rusty and make a slight noise... Porsche Center decided not to change them at this point as their operation is ok.
What I am trying to find out now is how hard it is to change these motors if / when i find a better set on ebay or else where....
I know their location, and from what it looks they should be easy to change. I know their sync is critical and I am wondering if you can change them without reprogramming them if changed one at a time as long as the sync of the wires are not changed.

I finally found a new set of motors at the right price from a company in Albuquerque NM. They are on their way to Sweden right now. If no one can provide more detailed info about how to change them change I will probably go wit Porsche Center Gothenburg...

2007 997 Targa 4
I have a 07 Targa 4 , and since a short while the Roof wont close anymore....
gets kinda stuck half way or simply does not close at all.
Sometimes pushing it all the way up to close helps but not all the time.
I took it to the Shop and they told me the "plastic pins" (Guardrails) are worn out (broken?) and this has to be a complete redo .
Porsche sells a repair set (?) for round bout $1000 !?
Labour of course would be way more as difficult to get in or out etc.
Anybody any experience similar / same issue?
Thanks a lot !
