Default Rear Wheel HP on 996 w/ 3.6

What is the Rear Wheel HP (and torque for the matter) for the standard C2 with the 3.6. And, what is it for the C2S?

I am scouring the internet now and do not see an answer.

Thanks in advance,

JKC

There is no C2S in the 996 series. And the C4S has the exact same engine as the C2. The 02 and later engines (3.6L) were rated at 320hp and 273 Ft of torque. Depending on drivetrain loss you should see roughly 250hp and 220 ft of torque on a healthly engine.

I never knew there was never a C2S... Interesting. However, my owner's manual does cite an S specification engine with something like 350 in BHP. So, are you certain the C4S uses the same engine?

Thanks for the feedback.

C2S
He may be thinking of the 2005 997 "S" with the 3.8L. I looked at one of these in Houston before I bought mine. Very nice package.

Absolutely certain. The only engine option on the non turbo 996 was the x51 engine option that bumped HP to 345 by using different heads/cams. It was a ridcidulously expensive factory option on the normal 996 ($16K) and was standard on the 2004 40th anniversary 996.

Thanks,

JKC

Not sure what your looking for. Dont expect much power out of the NA M96. Dont bother modding it, because it will surely fail. If more power is needed just get a TT and be done with it. Lots of stock power options (depending on series) from 415HP to 600HP+ and it wont blow up.

Soverystout, Thanks.

KrazyK, I was just curious what the drivetrain loss is in the 996. I'm a little surprised it is that high... That's like a 30% loss or something. But it is what it is.

The 284 is closer to what I had expected. Was yours modified?

I think parasitic loss for a C2 is more like 11-13%. Ray's numbers are what I would expect from a healthy 3.6.

Who says you cant have a 996 C2S?

Default RWHP

On my 2001 Carrera with FVD Headers and Muffler By Pass Pipes, stock intake, stock cats, and new 3.4L motor 4 years ago, I have a 3 year old dyno at 276 RWHP. So maybe the 3.6 would be closer to 300?
