I just picked up a 2004 Turbo Cab with factory Nav and Bose system. Great condition and <35k miles.
I want to upgrade to a Kenwood DNX890 HD ( I want bluetooth, Pandora etc)
- being a 2004 model this will require some rewiring and the addition of an amp (Intrinsic Bose problem detailed on this forum)
Reputable installer will do the whole install - including parts and labor around 2,200.
Claims that for around $300 he can reverse it to stock if needed.
Question is -
Will this hinder (or help) the sale of this vehicle in the near future if I only plan on having it for 2-3 years?
It would be adding some convenient features.. thats what I would think. Certainly would not be a negative. That said, this won't be a selling point boost as well.
I installed the exact same radio about 2 months ago. I paid $1,850 installed without the backup camera. I absolutly love that radio/pandora/satellite/blue tooth/nav system. I had them add a MP3 jack as well. It sounds great, it's user friendly, and fun to watch (I had them disable the video block). If there is a drawback, it's slow; SLOW to move between screens etc.
I have no idea if it adds or detracts from the value of the car, but I have saved all of the old stuff that came out. Good luck, have fun, enjoy.
