Just bought a pressure testor to check for coolant leak. What is the pressure I pump to? 14 or 10?
My Turbo reference gives a test pressure of 1 bar, but the pressure may be different for different years.
Be sure to pressure test the cap too.
Another way to pressure test the system is to drive the car until the engine is fully up to temp, then in your driveway raise the rpms to say 1500 until the radiator fans come on. (The A/C should be off or the fans run all the time.) Then shut off the engine. The heat load of the engine will raise the temperature of the coolant and its pressure and with everything hot if there's a leak you'll know it soon enough.
