Plastidip Rims in Anthracite Grey
Having an Arctic silver C2 with some slightly marred rims, I decided to see if I would like going a bit darker. I can't get into the matte black look, but thought this would be a nice compromise while contrasting the silver.
I did about 4 coats of their metallic anthracite color followed by 3 coats of "glossifier", basically a clear coat. Having done quite a few paint projects to various degrees of success, I would say, by far, this is one of most forgiving and easy to use paints I've ever dealt with. It's truly remarkable in that sense. I figure I will see how they work out for the next couple of weeks. If I'm happy, I'll peel off and have them painted. What better way to "try out" a rim color or style! In my opinion, as the technology continues to improve, I believe this product will become more and more mainstream.
So far, I'm absolutely loving them. They look much better in person as the gloss and lighter anthracite color really stand out.

So how many cans of each did it take to do this?
I was at our local lordco shop the other day and they stock this stuff in tons of colours. Id like to try and find something like blue steeel or a nice light gun metal with a blue hue.

Took 3 cans of anthracite and just about 2 cans of the glossifier. Used some newspaper over the caliper and rotors for masking and tire dressing on the tires, so no need to mask the tires.
If you go this route, remember to do heavier coats after the initial dusting to minimize texture and you will be holding the can fairly close to the surface. The heavier coats will emulsify and smooth out the surface once applied. Trust me though, it's easier than you think!

^^ good tips above. looks real nice, esp. that it can be easily removed ( peeled off). Each can is about $7- $9, so a $35-$45 parts cost and an hour or so, it's well worth the experiment.
