Default Windshield cracks w/18" wheels

I have read that Porsche issued a TB or an advisory notice recommending that 996 Cabriolet owners avoid fitting 18" wheels as the larger wheels appear to be causing windshield cracks.

Myth or fact?

FYI-my '99 996 owners manual lists 18" wheels as an OEM option.

This could have been the very first of the first year, first gen. I know this was true of the '97-'98 Boxsters due to too much chassis flex.

I think you may have confused Porsche 996 with the "new" Mini coopers.

I have to wear a mouth guard ever since I switched over to 19s and GT3 coilovers.

'03 C4 cab with 18" Sport Designs and ROW M030 suspension for 6 years and 40K miles of year round driving. I WISH my windshield would crack. It's all pitted and I want a new one

My 13 year old C2 Cab came from the factory with 18 inch wheels. <Sarcasm>Amazingly, I'm still on the original window, though I've debated replacing it with the ceramic-coated version...you know...just to be safe.</Sarcasm>.
