Default How many miles did you get from your original clutch?

My clutch seems fine at 64k but I think I'll do the IMS bearing replacement for peace of mind and do the clutch now regardless. I'd just like to know if at 64k I am pretty much due for a clutch replacement anyways.

@ 45K miles my original was < 50% worn. My motor was shot though and being replaced free by PCNA so I did the clutch, pp, T/O brng that I bought online, no addt'l labor.

I replaced mine when I bought the car with 38K. It was going and I replaced IMS bearing and RMS at the same time. 30k later the clutch seems as strong as when new.

That's a pretty hard question as most of us bought the car not knowing when or if a replacement clutch went into it. I bought mine at 45000 had a replacement gearbox put in it under warranty and the garage doing the work advised me that there was no need to change the clutch at that time as there was lots of wear left on it. So is it the original??????? I would suspect it is but who knows? Now the car has done 65000 miles and clutch seems fine. Now as we all know, it all depends on how the car is driven as to how long a clutch will last. Now if you want to show off to your mates on how to rev the **** out of an engine and DROP the clutch as these young whipper snappers like to say and burn rubber then it may last a few thousand miles less than normal wear and tear would last LOL.

Nearly impossible to know. Once the clutch is exposed then an experienced mechanic can advise you.

My info is gaging clutch life left is tricky. Clutch wear is not linear and a clutch friction disc worn say 50% at 60K miles could have more than 60K miles of additional life left.

I had the RMS done to my car (02 Boxster) at 25K miles. The tech said the clutch was fine. 243K miles later (268K miles total on the car) and the original clutch is still fine so these clutches can deliver exceptional miles if not abused.

Replaced mine at 63K miles only because throw out bearing went out and since I was in there already did the whole thing. I still have my original disc and pressure plate, and the disc still looks like its got well over 50% on it.
