Default Retired my 996 as daily driver

Due to the death of my father, I have inherited a 2002 Nissan Frontier pickup truck with 15,000 miles on her. This allowed me to retire my 2000 996 from daily driver role! Now she is my garage queen. I put 30,000 miles on her the last 2 years as a daily driver. I am so glad to park her and drive her only for enjoyment.

Sorry to hear about your Father. Also sorry to hear that you won't be driving your 996 every day. Mine is my DD and no matter where we go, I always enjoy the ride.

You should sell the pickup, take a nice vacation, and go back to diving the Pcar everyday!

No, I was putting way too many miles on her. Also having to maintain quite a bit.
I am happy to drive her on weekends and pleasure drives.

Sorry to hear about your father.

And sorry to hear that you won't be enjoying your 996 on a daily basis. Parking a Porsche is like being married to a supermodel and never... well, you get the idea.

Oh! I enjoy looking at it in my garage every day, plus when I need to take a short 2 mile trip, I can do it in the truck and not short drive the 996! I am very pleased that it is not my daily driver now....

Sorry about your dad.

Driving your 996 when you WANT to is way better than HAVING to drive it.

Well you got two options the way I see it, join the KK club or turn it into a dedicated track rat.

Sorry about your father.

But now you are left with the perfect situation. A truck and a Porsche 911.

Were you having a lot of maint issues on the Porsche or just normal stuff?

Sad about your Dad, keep his truck and drive both. He'll be with you in the truck.

I'd keep the truck for truck-worthy occasions and continue to use the P-car daily.

Then when maintenance comes up you don't have to rush with either because you have a backup.

Very sorry to hear about your Father, especially so close to Farhers Day. On a lighter note, very happy to hear you will be treating your 996 as it should be. Garaged, clean at all times, well maintained, admired as an artifact, and ready to be used for fun. Good call on your part! Welcome to the common sense faction of 996 owners.

DB: Also sorry about your loss!
KK: How many miles did you put on your PCar since you bought it last year?

I agree with the OP. always great to have a truck for truck worthy stuff, and those 2-5 mile errands that do nothing but expose the Porsche to parking lot damage, short run time abuse and nasty weather damage. When we had the last hail storm and the hood on my '99 Dakota slightly resembled the surface of a golf ball, I was damn glad the P-car was safe in the garage.
