I've got the B&M and like it. I haven't tried other shifters so I can only speak for the B&M. I have to agree with others it is a bit notchy but the shifts are very short.

I hated the stock shifter feel when i got my 03 a year or so ago. I bought one of the ~$50 ebay B&M SSK knockoffs with the thought if i did not like it I would just replace it with a 997 shifter. Over a year later it is till there, short throws but a little notchy.
At some point I will go for a 997 shifter but, for the money, the ebay shifter is a huge improvement over stock.
