I wouldnt use either. Read the reviews. Its going to shift better with the Porsche gear oil or Pelicans.

Get the NS version of Redline if you don't have LSD.

I am thinking of trying Motul Gear 300 75w90 when I do mine, 100% synthetic, ester based. Has anybody tried it?

Brian,
I changed the Porsche trans oil out to Mobil Delvac in early spring. When the temp is ~40-50 deg f it is very hard to shift 1-2 and stiff into 3. Once the car warms up it is fine. I just bought the Porsche trans lube to change back to.

I just had a trans fluid changed after having Swepco for a couple of months. I did not like swepco and changed to Mobil Delvac. The Swepco is thick as hell apparently and it caused cold start shifting into first and second.

The shifting w/ Delvac was VASTLY improved. I believe the Motul is better but for 10 years, I ran the OEM stuff that is Shell, I believe.

For the oem stuff I found part number 999.917.546.00. When I search on this part number I find Fuchs brand Titan sintopoid 75w90 for $15. Half the price of the oem.

Does anyone know if this is the same stuff?
Has anyone used it?

Thanks for all your help

Brian

Got my trans oil replaced last week with OEM oil: 000-043-204-19. Had to buy 5 liters of it for $210. CDN: Ouch!
One of Previous Owners was a bit hasty with 2nd & 4th synchros. This oil change seems to have appeased these synchro demons for now ... but not totally.
Last time replaced was 3 yrs ago with not sure what since I have owned the car for a little over a year.

Seems everyone has had issues with non OEM trans fluid. I used OEM when i changed it due to the uncertainty around who makes it for Porsche.

Why did you need to buy 5 liters? The trans only takes a bit over 2.5 Liters if memory serves.

Minimum amount I had to buy. Oil change was done at a trusted VW dealer (OEM dealer 2.5 hrs away) and oil came from that Porsche dealer who sells it that way.
I hope it keeps as I have the remainder for next time.

Did engine oil change as well and no metal in filter: Happy to report (143K kms, '00 C2).
Added a magnetic plug sold at Pelican for next year's check.
