996 Turbo Headlights - Xenon?
Hey Rennlist,
Does anyone know if a 2001 Porsche 996 Turbo come standard with bi-xenon headlights? I'm looking to buy one and can't tell if they are xenon or not. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

In some cases the Turbo came with bi-xenon low beam, halogen high beam and halogen additional high beam starting with the 2000 Turbo.

The 2001 has bi-xenon HID headlights. They utilize HID low-beams as well as HID high-beams (thus the term "bi-xenon") that are augmented with halogen lamps.

A "xenon" bulb will frequently have a blue tint. These are often halogen capsules with some xenon gas added. They are tinted blue. These won't be found as OEM lamps on a Porsche.
A true HID bulb will not have any blue coloring. The 996 MK II cars were available with projector headlights that are not HID. These are easily identified on the 996 because they don't have the silver disc on the lamp assembly that covers the headlight washer. In 996 cars the presence of the washer indicates that the lamp is HID. Again - I believe all turbos have HID lights.
