Question Fitting GT3 Master cylinder or Dual Master cylinder on 996

Has any fitted a 996 C2 with a GT3 Master Cylinder?
Does it work? Direct bolt-on?
How about a dual Master Cylinder?
Please give details.

thanks!

What would be the reason for wanting to do this? Do you have larger brakes?

It is for my race car. I want a firmer pedal.

I've felt that there isn't enough bite instead of the pedal being to soft. For how stiff the pedal feels I feel like the brakes should bite a lot more than they do. That's one of the few issues I have with the car.

I have had soft pedal at a time and I was going crazy on steel braided lines, master cylinder, cooling duct...

Then I just purged and use castrol srx, and performance friction brake pad, and that was it.

That's all you need. I mean I get perfect pedal feel, as long as I want to.

I don't even think about fading anymore.

what brake pads are you using ?
what brake fluid are you using ? I assume you tried to flush it already ?

I would recommend pressure bleed followed by SS lines first as the cheaper alternative if you haven't already tried it.

I value your opinion, so I googled castrol srx and don't pull up much. Can you clarify?

What performance friction brake pad are you using?

I think philooo mistyped and meant to say Castrol SRF. (I assume he'll correct me if I'm wrong.)

Spot on David.........surely SRF. I'm using Motul with PFC 08 in front and 01 in the rear this year. The past few years I've used Carbotech RP2's and had a mushy pedal at the end of the sessions. I really hope the PFC's fix the issue.

I have run PFC 97's the last two seasons wit ATE Super Blue and no brake issues. But since 97's are discontinued, I'll be moving to a combo like Pete's sometime soon.

FWIW a buddy with a 964 moved from Super Blue to SRF and it significantly helped a soft pedal.

Not exactly what you were looking for, but close (gt3 cylinder in a cayman):

In the end though, I agree with others. The system when outfitted with good fluid and pads is pretty damn capable.

Yes sorry typo castrol SRF

I really push my car pretty hard. before the bleed with SRF it was just scary in fast turn, never knowing where the pedal was.

I DID add the front gt3 brake cooler at the same time so may be they made a difference but I doubt it.

The brake pads I am using PFC 06, they make all the difference in the world

Last time I was lazy and did not want to switch the pads, so I had the OEM street pads and the castrol SRF -> epic fail... mush pedal after a few session.

PADS PADS PADS

what pads are you running.

Homestead has some pretty strong braking lines from 110 to 60 to 45, no problem at all, time after time.

BTW..keep in mind for the PFC pads you need to run pretty sticky tires or your pads will overpower your wheels
