Default 2004 Carrera - Won't Start After Fueling

I came across this site after seeing a few people reporting similar issues with Boxsters and Cayennes, but didn't see much about the same problem with the Carrera.

Long story short. After I put any amount of fuel into my 2004 Carrera it has a hard time starting. The only way I can get it to work is by flooring the gas and rev'ing the engine. Even this solution doesn't always work and can take up to 4 starts for it to finally run.

I've had this problem for two summers now. Everyone keeps telling me to live with it, but it feels like playing russian roulette and one day the car won't start. I've spent quite a bit of money at the local Porsche dealership and it doesn't feel like we're making any progress, so I'm looking for any help I can get.

The first time I had this problem I brought it to the dealer, they:
1) Replaced the vent valve and said everything was fine. Next time I filled it up same problem.
2) New error code this time P046 ("Activated charcoal filter shutoff valve internal fault allowing fuel to enter engine"). The solution was replace shutoff valve and replace carbon canister. Next time I filled up had the same problem.

Can anyone think of anything we maybe overlooking at this stage?

Cheers!

My hard start after fueling issue was solved by replacing the regeneration valve in the engine compartment. A 5 minute fix and no problems since.

Thanks for the info. Were you able to install the regeneration valve yourself? Is it easy enough a mechanically challenged person like myself could possibly do?

Thanks a lot, was able to find it on my car and just ordered the part now off Pelican. Will update you after I install it. I'm based in Canada, so the part will take a while to get here :'(

Gator996 - thanks so much for your help. Got the part in the mail today, installed it and fuelled up with no more problems. I'm ecstatic.
