High Marques in Morristown, NJ had a red one, 959, for sale last year. They brought it out to C&C Chatham a couple of times. Not sure if it sold but it isn't there anymore.

Bill has used the 959 to take his kid to school (my nephew went to the same school)

+1

I knew Gates owned a 1999 996 Cab. In fact, I remember seeing pictures of him with the car years ago. If I remember correctly, the car was a unique color.

It would be very interesting to know if he still owns and drives the car.

I didn't want to say anything initially but looks like you said it for a lot of us.

I think it's safe to say that any tablet requiring 35gb of OS space is crap.

There are definitely more than 3 in the US considering there are 5 in the shop that I work at right now And yes Bill does drive his 959.

As I mentioned earlier, I knew there had to be at least 3 in Canepa's shop alone! I assume that is where you work. Sign me up for that job! I'll take the trash out all day long just to be around all of those toys!

Slightly off topic as the original thread was regarding the 1999 996 Cab but here are some fact regarding the 959.
The Porsche 959 is a rare and awesome automobile. Less than 400 were built in 1987 - 1988. They sold for about $250,000 US each.

Space age technology was used in building its body, made up of aluminum and Kevlar parts to keep it light, but strong enough to handle the 450 hp that where transmitted through its four wheel drive configuration. It would rocket from 0 - 100 kph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 320 kph (200 mph).

All the air scoops where not in the original design, but were added later. When testing began, Porsche soon discovered that they were needed to supply enough air for the turbo chargers and to keep the engine running cool enough.

The Porsche 959 was never certified legal for American roads since Porsche refused to hand over 4 cars for crash testing. Who can blame them?

Hmmm... Now I'm wondering if Bill didn't maybe have a hand in the M96 IMS bearing design???

Cool

Too bad simply rebooting the car (restarting) doesn't cure the IMS issue. LOL!

Maybe Bill thought an acceptable engine 'reboot' was a complete tear-down/rebuild?

Didn't Balmer write a program that used computer generated crash senario that convinced NTSA to clear importation of the car.
