996 Tail Pipes
Just shipped the mufflers to FD Motorsports for Darin to do his thing. My question to the jury is how can I make this tail pipes look better than what they are. All inputs welcome.

I cleaned mine up last year. You can get them very shiny but it takes a bit of work. The process I used was
- start with medium or fine grade steel wool. It works better than sand paper to remove the carbon deposits.
- sand off scratches with a high grit sandpaper. You might get away with ~1000 grit but if the scratches are too deep start with a lower grit and work upwards
- for a really nice shine use a steel polishing compound and a buffing wheel
- finish with a metal polish (I'd second the vote for Mothers)
It doesn't take long at all. The hardest part for me was getting the tips off the exhaust.

Thanks everybody for your inputs. I decided to send them to Darin to have them powder coated velvet black. I think they are going to look sharp on my red 996 with black wheels.
