I'm going to be there in June. Obviously, I'll leave the car keys at home.

I've heard petty theft can be a problem there, but then I'v seen that in Rome, Athens, and Paris too.

stayed a few days in Prague this past November.
Didn't feel threaten in anyway, but I travel quite a lot.

Don't flash around your belongings and you'll be fine. Use the safe at your hotel (for the porsche keys, for ex :icon107:)

Prague itself is fine. You absolutely have to watch the taxi guys. My bag was stolen as the taxi driver yanked the luggage that was outside the car already. If you're taking the taxi from the bus or train station, DO NOT hop in any cab. Use AAA Taxi, and from now on, i'm going to take a picture of the license plate and the cab driver/credentials.

i've travelled a lot (and in fairly sketchy areas of the world) and this is a first for me. The keyfob is just the tip of the iceberg. Ipad, money, glasses, clothing.

What a pain. We called the taxi company right away but of course, I didn't actually have hope. Also used the ipad's find my iphone functionality, but they must have never turned it on. Set it to lock and then a day later, wipe and said goodbye.

Prague is fun as hell though. Go to Lokal which offers great sausage and traditional Czech fair and drink like a fish. The Czech people are a blast.

jyoteen, thanks for the off-topic travel tips.

Interestingly, someone on another board also had problems with cabs trying to rip them off in Prague. I like your idea of taking pics of the licenses. At least the guy knows he's on alert.

Favorite Hotel?

We stayed at my friend's flat about a block from Charles Bridge near the Kafka Museum and Mandarin Orient.

That looks really nice. Thanks for the suggestion; I'll definitely check it out.
