Default Another long term lurker, recent Porsche owner intro.

Bought my 996 in December and promptly put her to bed for the winter. Hope to get her out next week, as the snow gradually melts here in Central Alberta.

Visited the Porsche factory in 1986 as a young man and swore one day I would own one, and just before Christmas 2012 it happened.

2000 996, one owner, local car with 30000km

Don't have major mods planned, only some minor ones and no performance related ones.

Did the iPod cable add and have a Kuda mount on the way. Other than that looking at the spoiler switch relocate & garage door switch integration.

I might put some new rims on and have that debate daily with myself.

Anyways when I was looking, reading this forum was a wealth of information!

( trying to post from ipad, hope the picture attaches )

Congrats and welcome. That would suck, buying one and having to lock it up for the winter (I'm in Florida, so that idea is foreign to me anyway). Great looking car, enjoy!

It is tough to look at the Porsche and motorcycles locked up in the garage & then the foot of snow in my yard.

The roads should be clear enough I hope by Easter at the latest.

Nice car! I don't think you really "need" to do anything but drive it.

Of course the time you spend on here is proportional to the amount of money you'll spend on your car. Sometimes(most of the time) on silly frivolous stuff you could do without.

Congrats! Nice 996. I recently took the plunge as well a little over a month ago. You will love it.

Nice car! Eager to hear about your experience with the spoiler switch, I want to do the same thing.

Congrats as well -nice looking car. I've had my Artic Silver '99 C2 since December 2011 but since I'm from LA (Lower Alabama) there was no need to hide it away for the winter when we picked it up. Right now you say no mods but given enough time I suspect you will give in.

By the way where in Alberta are you from? I used to live in Edmonton and Calgary so I know all about the cold and snow. We moved down here about 15 years ago and love it. Have not shoveled any snow since

Not sure why they would put the damn thing in the footwell. I will tackle end of April, start of May. Local dealer wanted $90 for switch! Will be in Portland mid-April and Sunset can get it to me for $30. ( Another great RL tip I learned about Sunset ). Like to support local but really? 3 times the cost and that's with my member 'discount'.

Especially considering there are blanks on the dash! You are right about the dealers too, I've found net prices lower. If I do mine before then I'll let you know how it goes.

Local Porsche dealer wanted $72 for a pair of wiper blades! I didn't even bother asking if that's before or after our 13% tax.....

Since you are going to be in Oregon, you might as well take advantage of their zero state sales tax, and pick up a few other things, such as the water pump, which probably could use a replacement due to age and the plastic impeller.
