Default Rear Spoiler Malfunction?

Had the car a few days and getting / trying to get to know it. So I am out today and took the car up to 77 mph and the spoiler didn't come up. I know about the manual switch and have tried it and works fine. Is there some type of reset?
Oh and by the way got a ticket for speeding trying this, first one in 20 yrs.!
Also was footwell light an option that would allow them to stay on at night?
Checked the manual for both of these issues to no avail, although it states for the lighting there should be a overhead switch.
All replies appreciated.

Did you have a spotter in the car to watch the spoiler? Put it up manually and see if you can see it when you are sitting in drivers seat. I can't see mine when driving.

Not sure about your footwell light question. Do yours stay on when driving?

I'm with fpb111....I can't see mine while sitting in the drivers seat, I have to look at my reflection in a car while I pass them to see it.

Did you ask the officer if you could see the tape? At least you would get something for the "Road Tax"

Put the spoiler out manually before you set off. Then take the car to 80mph and when you stop, the spoiler should be down again. Its working. Then take someone crouched in the rear seats or to follow you in their car up to 80mph. Then you can both get done for speeding together lol

Are you sure her maximum speed was really 20 mph?

Maybe the daughter hit the switch accidentally?

Was the spoiler up when she left the house? If so, the spoiler would go down when she parked it back at the house.

Like most of the guys on this forum, the spoiler doesn't stay up for long all by itself.

On mine, if you hit the switch to put the spoiler up, it will stay up until you turn off the engine. When you restart, it will stay up until you go above the spoiler retraction speed (~35 mph) and then when you drop below that it will retract.

I learned this at a track day because the instructor wanted the spoiler up all the time, which is was until we took a break and even though it started up for session 2, it was down when we stopped after session 2.

It's a mystery...but during the high triple digit days of summer, I usually put the spoiler up when I pull into the garage since the secondary fan will always kick in and I think it helps to cool down the engine. So when I leave again, the spoiler is up, but when I get to my next destination (irregardless of my speed, +/-75mph) the spoiler is back down.

I'm guessing it may have been up when she left.

You should be able to see yours in the rearview mirror while your driving. I can see my spoiler go up or down while driving. Maybe car color makes yours harder to see?

Sorry about your ticket. Explain to the Judge what you were doing and ask for a deferment so it wont go on your record. If that doesnt work, surely your state offers DD to keep it off your record.
