Congrats!!! I'm envious. I regret not flying out to PHX to drive mine back to Tampa a year ago, but just couldn't find the time...but I do love a good road trip with a great car!

Drove my 928 from LA to Columbus once in 28 hours straight through. You ought to try it! Happy trails!

Orient Red - the most awesomest Porsche color ever.
You might play with tire pressures on the trip. I find that for long interstate drives running 2-3 psi under the recommended pressure can really smooth out the ride, particularly on bad surfaces. The recommended pressure is actually for sustained high speeds (like autobahn) under full weight load. Of course you will have to balance out ride with mileage and of course too low pressure will hurt tire wear. That's why a long drive might be a good opportunity to try out some different levels.
Enjoy, and give us some updates on the way. Hope it is not all interstate.

Unbelievable paint. It's like a mirror. Awesome colors. Both exterior and interior. You will have neighbors asking if it is brand new. Nice find my friend. I love Porsche owners (a lot of us) that take great care of their cars.
I just recently did Atlanta to Dallas. Not quite the trek that you will have, but a great bonding experience. Enjoy it. As some infamous RL'er always says "Drive it like you stole it".
I will see you at the PCA lunch one of these days I hope.
Take care!

Mark,
Have you set out on your trip yet? What are the road conditions like heading south to LA?
I'm looking at a car near LA and would be doing the same trip in reverse? Concerned about the weather heading up in the higher elevations though.

Mark -- just curious why you purchased your 996 out of the Seattle area? I'm a new user looking to purchase a 996 and live just outside of Seattle. Looks like there are hundreds for sale on Autotrader and there must be quite a few near Dallas. Were you looking for a particular color combination or are there just that many dogs out there that you had to look outside of your market to find a good one?
