Default Whale tail

Forgive me ignorance as I am new at this 911 thing. Did any of the 99-2005 cars come with a whale tail? Would love to add one to my 99 Coupe. Aftermarket or factory woudl be fine by me. Just love that look.
Thanks Mike

Hi Mike,

you can get the OEM fixed wing spoilers gt2/3 style

however there is about a googleplex of aftermarket spoilers available

but remember if you do switch to a fixed wing from a standard you will need to add additional bit of wiring to disable the spoiler light on the dash (I believe there is about 90 post on RL with how to do this.)

below is just one example from fibrewerks

You'll also need to add a front spoiler or an aero kit front bumper to keep your front end planted at high speed.

Actually... you won't get rid of the spoiler light until you begin to move for the first time after starting the car - after that it won't come on again until the next time you start the car. I ordered the factory wiring harness that replaced the standard harness because the third brake light wasn't functional after disconnecting the factory wing and installing the GT3 wing. After I did this it was disconcerting to find the light was coming on for a few seconds - although not after that. So I asked a dealer about it and the reason I was given was that Porsche couldn't disable the light completely as it is a double use light - it lights up if your engine deck lid isn't shut. Apparently the once only cycle of the light was the lessor of two evils such as not having a third brake light and no open deck warning. Now this may only apply to 99's or 0's and was cured in later models but I am sure about the third brake light not working without the different harness. +1 as people have said here on the front splitter as the aero balance will be offset to the rear without it.

Ok, I wasn't saying you'll get rid of the light forever I was just pointing out that you will also need a extra consideration when adding a fixed wing!

You might also need to add a different deck lid strut to account for the extra weight???

Jeez ED, once you dumped your water cooled Porsche you've become so critical. And of a black 996, shame on you.
