Tire decision need help
So its time for tires for the rear of my 04 c2 cab currently running the ps2 285/30/18 which is 24.8 in tall. Can I run 295/35/18 which are 26.2 in tall without throwing codes? It is not lowered it is my wife's ride.. Thinking of going Nitto INVOS or NT05's Any thoughts?
Thanks

Cost is no object or you get them free, run the Michelin PS2 or another Michelin. Want the most for your money, I'd run the Sumitomo HTR-Z lls. I ran 2 sets on my 996 996C2 and have a set on my Turbo now. Great in the rain, great in the canyons for spirited (banging and slamming your passengers from side to side) driving as well. They last pretty good too. Many here have run the llls, but I prefer the look of the lls and why mess with success? I think the lls also wear longer. I have never tracked my car yet I've been know to push pretty hard for short durations. I think the Sumi lls may get greasy feeling when pushed very hard on a track for several laps. I say this from motorcycle roadracing experience where a great street tire was a poor track tire and a good sticky track tire was a little slippery on the street because it was running below its temperature requirements.

Sumi's are good for the price, unless you do anything other than commute...then they are not much of a tire compaired to the ones you have now....
Wifes car....they would be fine, unless she drives like the girls I know who are track junkies

yes, you can. The car is also set up for 19" rims.
actually, when driving the 295/30/18, the speedo is inaccurate - 2-3 mph fast (as indicated by GPS speed calculation). Thus, driving a slightly taller tire is NO PROBLEMO.
i ran 285/30/18 for 6 months until I wore them out.

Take a look at Michelin Pilot Super Sports. They are less expensive than the Pilot Sport PS2s and they are getting excellent reviews. FWIW - Michelins are the best tire I've ever had on the C4S, and I won't buy anything else.

Y'all's suggestions are so last year. The choice is really Dunlop Direzza ZII or BF Goodrich Rival, both of which were just released and comparably priced and a massive leap in performance over the previous generation of tires. To add a little more uncertainty, Bridgestone RE-11A is going to come out soon and assuming it's an improvement on the already excellent RE-11, will likely be a very good tire, too. Choice, choices!

Last year?? The Michelin Pilot Super Sport is a new tire and is the tire of choice for the new 991, the new Ferrari models and the 2014 Corvette. I don't think it's "last year".

P.S. I drove a 74 TA SD 455 in my early 20's. The Smokey & the Bandit cars were 1977 & 1978.

Highly suggest trying the new Dunlop ZII's. They are supposed to be a big improvement over the previous star spec's, which are the best tires I've ever ran on a car. But I run in autocross occasionally, for strictly a street tire they may be a bit on the aggressive side for you, even though I have no complaints running the star specs on the street as well. Amazing tires for the $
I actually just ordered the ZII's, they should be here in a few days. They actually ended up being a little cheaper than the last generation Z1's in the sizes I needed to run.

My ZIIs arrived day before yesterday, but I haven't mounted them yet. TrackToyz (lucky bastard) got an invite from BFG and got to track the ZII back-to-back with the Rivals; he was 1 second faster on the Rivals, but it wasn't a scientific test. I'm looking forward to seeing GRM and tirerack testing.

I guess it's all realtive. Compared to the Pilot Sport PS2, it's a new tire.
Also, new doesn't necessarily mean better, as you infer. I'll be interested to hear what you think as you try different tires. In the meantime, I'm extremely pleased with my PS2s, and I would love to try the Super Sports.
