996 Traction Control?

996 Traction Control?
I just recently acquired a 2004 996 C2 and I know it does not have PSM but was wondering if it has any type of traction control. I don't think it does based on how it drives but I can't seem to find the answer when searching.
Thanks,
Dan

Are you positive it does not have PSM? I thought that was standard by '04.

Well no I am not positive... I just know there is no PSM button in the car. Guess that's why I am asking. This is my first 911 (owned every 944 you can think of including track cars, one of the original 944-spec car, past life) and this thing drives like it is stuck to the road with glue. I got the back end to slide once in first gear full throttle in a corner which makes me think it does not have traction control/PSM but again not sure... My 03 Merc and 08 Jeep both have traction control but then again my 04 996 can't play an MP3 so go figure

Pretty sure it was an option, not standard, on 2004 C2's. It shows as an option on my 2004 C2 under hood sticker, dealer option printout, and 2004 order guide.
IIRC, only all-wheel-drive 996's (C4, C4S, Turbo) came standard with PSM.
Yes, if you have PSM, you should have a PSM button as well as option 476 listed on your underhood sticker.

Traction control option was discontinued when PSM was introduced to replace it in 2000 or 2001.

Besides the name, is there a difference how the two different systems work (traction control vs PSM)?

$1250 isn't very much (for Porsche). So, I would guess they didn't do much to add it to the car. I wonder what it would take to activate it on your car if you want it? I've never seen a write up on it (more talk about deactvating it). But since it uses existing systems on the car, it would be worth checking to see what the differences really are.

If your car does not have PSM, it does not have TC. Additionally, both TC and PSM included a button of the dash to defeat (or temporarily defeat in the case of PSM) the system. If you don't have a PSM or TC button you do not have the system (at least factory installed).
