Default 99 cab with an engine from 05

Just bought a 99 996 cab and it had the engine replaced by Porsche in '05....the dealer who changed it said they put a Porsche reman 3.4 back in it.....does this mean the engine has a double row bearing....thx

I say that is a definet maybe! The only way to know for sure is to remove the trans & see if the IMS has the large 22mm nut in the center of the IMS flange indicating the late single row IMSB.

Just as important, why was the engine replaced in the first place? ummmmmmmmmmmm Hopefully not a double race bearing failure.
The year of the presant engine will tell all.

You can just slide your phone under your car by the drivers side exhaust manifold to take a pic or just crouch down and look under turning your head.

You can see the engine serial without jacking up the car.
