Question Passneger taillights only work when headlights on

As the post title says, my passenger taillights don't come on when the car is running and headlight switch is off. Brake lights, indicators work fine. When I turn on the headlights, they light up.
Checked the fuses and replaced just in case.
Guessing a ground, but maybe more involved since something in the elctrical is telling them to stay off unless the headlights are on...
Lots of nice folks at lights telling me the light doesn't work though.

Is your car originally Can delivery? If not maybe someone did the/a DRL hack incorrectly or something slipped...?

Thanks for the idea. Yeah, originally (and still) Canadian car - no "hacked" fuses in there - but will check the other fuses just in case.
Could do it to keep both rear taillights off so it doesn't look unbalanced if I can't fix it otherwise.

Am I missing something? The TAILlights aren't supposed to light up unless the headlights are on.

Good catch Walter. In the US, DRL's do not light the rears, just the headlights. Same in CAN?

Yea I was wondering the same thing. You can put the switch to the first position which turns on the parking lights only. Perhaps thats what the OP is referring to?

With the DRLs in Canada ALL lights come on automatically in the back - with light switch **** set at 0.

Gotcha - It's getting later and later in the day that I learn that one new thing everyday!

Thanks, sorry I do not have an explanation, in the US only the fronts are on with the DRL's...Which then makes a lot of morons drive around at night not realizing they have to turn the switch as they have some light in front and their gauges usually are lit as well...

Any chance you have the light switch pulled out, and the drivers side is the rear foglight on?
