Things you can do to a 99 C2 Cab - GT3 Suspension - 997S Wheels
Just wanted to share the latest addition to my little 99' C2 Cabriolet 996 Project. I have installed 2004 Take off GT3 Shocks, Struts and the Sway bars.- I used the Rear GT3 Drop links that came with sway bars. I was forced to use Tarret adjustable on the Front as neither the stock or the GT3 would adjust properly. Unless you remove a knuckle on the Strut Holder you will need to use the stock location of the 996. The rears bolted right in an no problems using the stock GT3 links. our stock 996 links are too long and will not work.
The latest add-on is the 997S Porsche Design sport Wheels. The front is basically the same so no issues just an upgrade in size to 19X8 verses the 18" in Turbo look option that came with my car. The rear was a little more concerning as they are 19X11 with a 67 offset. These are actual Porsche Take offs so not cheap knock offs. The tire size also increased to 295 from 285 on the 18" wheels. I am happy to report they clear (just barely) but so far no scrapping and the GT3 suspension dropped the car a good 1.5". The wheels definitely updated the car See attached photos - added one with the GT3 Suspension and old wheels for comparison.
Added Bonus picked up these takeoffs in perfect condition with Brand New Pirelli P-Zero's $1200 - Love it when rich people clean out there garages - These were off an 05 997S -
Wheel Part Numbers for those interested in this type of upgrade.
FRONT WHEELS: 19 X 8.5" OFFSET 57MM. PORSCHE PART# 997.362.156.04.
REAR WHEELS: 19 X 11" OFFSET 69MM. PORSCHE PART# 997.362.162.07.
There is a C4S Wide Body version of this wheel that will not fit the Narrow Body
Next Project the Radio that seems to keep turning itself up and down by itself......Any Radio Recommendations appreciated I would like to avoid the aftermarket Disco Decks -

Love the look! How does it drive now compare to stock suspension? Iirc, your stock stereo should adjust its volume automatically according to your speed of driving since you have a cabriolet.

Could you direct me or give a link to verify what you are saying is fact please. I have the 99 Cab and did not notice any increase in the volume at speed.. thanks.

Page 26 of the Becker CDR 220 Owners Manual:
"GAL Setting
The GAL is a car radio control circuit which automatically adjusts the car radio volume according to vehicle speed. This results in compensation of the driving noise produced at higher speeds."
You set the sensitivity of the GAL yourself. It can be "off" (no adjustment at speed) to as high as 7 (higher volume at even low speed).
There you are.

Thanks for the compliments and the info on the Radio I think you just saved a large headache changing out the Deck - To answer the questions above. The GT3 shocks made a huge improvement. It does not drive like the Same Car. It is much tighter and corners more like my 911's of old as far as feedback and that more Go-Kart feel. It is very responsive. The Stock 99 suspension felt loose and way too soft. I got lucky and found this set on Craigslist from a Porsche Club Member that was converting his GT3 to Full Race. The Mileage was fairy low and the price was right so I took a shot. It is a much stiffer ride but actually drive quite nice on the Freeway. My Wife has ridden in it several times and have not heard one complaint about the ride. I hope this helps.

These were on the car whenninpurchaed it. The person I bought it from had owned it since 2001 - I asked about the headlights he said he never changed them out - he had all the service paperwork since he purchased it. It was always garaged And the head lights are Bosch - I will try to pull a part number for you. I will check into the side markers.

Sorry phone murdered my response . Should say when I purchased it. Also did the Fister D mod to the exhaust - or at least the equivalent by a local shop that charged me $60 but I walked in the mufflers. Another upgrade I highly recommend for the Cabs.

The part number on my headlights is H71305621727 - I was not able to get this number to come up on google. Let me know how the Fabspeed turns out. I was running the Fabspeed Supercup Exhaust for about three weeks. It sounded amazing between 3-7K rpm's but the Drone between -2-3K rpm's actually had my ear's ringing. I ended up selling it to the owner of a GT3. I live on a hill and to keep the neighbors from stringing me up would need to lug it home - The Supercup was extremely loud. It was good with the top down but top up was tough to handle - - If you want to keep your wife out of the car or not hear your kids complain i highly recommend
