Default broken hardtop locks on '04 tt

Just picked up my '04 tt cabrio, and the rear locks on the hardtop are not working. The car did have the hardtop delete option but obviously someone added a hardtop (with wrong interior color) however the rear does not lock down. Porsche dealer told me the 04 tt wide body hardtops were unique. Is that correct? In reading the forum should I just buy the later hardware kit for securing the top?

Thanks for any info,

Jan

Your dealer made an assumption that is incorrect. All the hardtops are the same. I believe in late '04 or '05 the rear mounting pins changed from a spin lock approx 1/4 turn cam to a threaded one to better and tighter lock. The top hardware must match the sockets in the body.

Read through this thread.
Look at post #23 for difference in old (bayonet) vs new (threaded) fastening hardware.
