Default What could be leaking oil

Posted: Sat Dec 01, 2012 8:05 pm Post subject: Help id parts that might be leaking oil
It's that time of the year again (summer down here), so I decided to take rear wheels off and poked around under the car.

Obviously I found a mist of oil covering on a couple of places, and I thought I'd post the pictures here to get some ideas of might be going on. There is no oil on the ground.

The car is a 2003 996 Carrera 4 Cabriolet.

First picture, I found a couple the area circled in red covered with fine film of oil. Before taking the picture I sprayed brake cleaner on that area hence the rather messy look. This area will be on the right side of the car looking from the rear.

Second picture, there were a couple of drops of oil at the tip of the arrow. Again I have cleaned the area with brake cleaner with the intention of keeping an eye on this area and the one I mentioned above. This is just off the oil filter which was captured in the picture.
