Pete, I would assume its some type of anticorrosion protection for cold weather salted road areas but we dont have that problem here. I will just keep it nice and clean. I dont drive it in rain anyway.

KK......its called cosmoline. It protects our cars from rust. I applaud you wanting a clean car but make your car happy and drive the dang thing.

Why did you jack the car up so high? Seems really unsafe. I was able to get my engine out fine with 6 ton jack stands only 3 knotches up and no wood block under my motorcycle jack.
