metal door sill unglued
The passenger side metal door sill with insignia has come unglued on my '99 C4. Looks like it was connected with some sort of double-sided strips...any suggestions how to fix? Do I need to go to dealer or is there an alternative? Thanks!

Clean it out when after you remove it the rest of the way--being careful not to bent it. Many automotive supply shops sell double sided adhesives. Use something like GOO-OFF.

I used 3 strips of 3M double sided tape. Same size as what appears was on my car when it came off. I did this over 4 years ago and haven't had that problem since. the 3M came in a small roll, but i bought several rolls to attach 3 strips.

Found a product on Autozone website, it's a 3M mounting tape. Is double-sided but they refer to it as a foam tape...would that work? Not too thick or is that the right stuff?

Automotive grade double side tape can be found at lowes. It has a red backing. Or pick up some liquid nails and put 4 dabs across the sill and glue it back on. A dealer? Really????

Can you post a pic? Mine was foam based but had some type of green packaging if I remember correctly.

IIRC, I used rubbing alcohol to clean off all the old tape/adhesive, then used 3M double-sided tape--the high strength version--from the local home center (Home Depot, in my case). Worked a treat. One roll per side did it for me (probably was overkill, but those suckers aren't coming unstuck again lol).
