Default Air filter box

Hey guys, just cleaning my throttle body, so i removed the air filter housing.
Checking everything over and ready to reassemble, but im wondering what the black empty box fastened inside the housing is for??
is it a baffle for noise reduction or what ?? Can i remove it for moe flow?? if so anyone know what would happen?

Just asked the same question. Check this thread.

According to the dealers I have contacted, there is no replacement part listed unless you want to buy the entire airbox.

ok, so its good to know, but there is an actual secondary little box inside the box.
there is the main plastic pipe to the throttle body, then there is a little side extension that goes to the air box and fastens to a box thats inside the big air box.
sorry ,difficult to explain.

Do a search for "Orange cap" and you'll find all of the info you need on the subject.

thanks wyovino! think ill leave that little box in there and just run stock.
Gonna go with the new exhaust system for better sound.
I dont wanna mess with the MAF and possibly affect my engine which runs really well as it is.

I think that's a good plan. Do a search for Fister as in Fister D exhaust mod. It's the best bang for the dollar and give your car a great sound. And most of all, enjoy your car!
