battery compartment (can water drain from there?)
Weird question (maybe), but does the battery compartment area on a 996 allow for water to drain out?
The reason I'm asking is I'm going to remove the battery and clean up that area. It looks like some battery acid was spilled in that area previously.
So I want to remove the battery and use a baking soda/water mix to scrub it down and neutralize any acids that remains (doubt it though). When I'm done I would need to rinse out the baking soda/water and I'm wondering if it will drain out. If not I need to figure out how to get the neutralizer out of that compartment!
Thanks!

Yep, there should be rubber drain tubes on either side of the compartment. Mine was clogged with leaves when I bought my car so I had to clear them out. It is designed to allow rain runoff from the windshield area to drain so it does not flood the trunk.

Thanks for the link to that thread!
Weird, I guess there's 2 drainage holes in that area. However, there were also 2 caps flopping around. One on each side. They don't really seem to fit over anything. They kind of fit on top of the 2 drainage holes, but when I say "fit" they "fit" only if the car doesn't move. Smallest bump and they're coming off. Any ideas what those caps are for? (they have porsche stamped on them I believe, so they below somewhere!)
Another thing now is I can't pour water down those holes. The car is in the garage without a battery, so anything drained will be in my garage! :P

Check out these two caps I found. I found one on each side (left and right of the battery location)
Anyone have any ideas what they're for? Is there a way to cross reference the part number?

Burning Brakes
Look at the firewall behind the battery. Those plugs should go there. Someone may have removed then to run a wire from the frunk to the cabin. Not a good idea to have them removed. Would have been better to make a small slit then pass the wire through.
