Default 3rd Brake Light

Hey guys, my 3rd brake light isn't working. I took it out and all the bulbs are good, hit it at the connector with 12v and it lights up. Then put my meter on the car side connector and had my son press the brakes, no voltage at that connector when the brakes are pressed. The normal brake lights are working just fine.

Anyone seen this before, of have any idea what could be causing it? Guessing I won't pass state inspection like this....

Check the fuse first. Possible short in the wiring.

That's what I was thinking. According to the little piece of paper in the fuse box all break lights are on the same fuse, I pulled that one to be sure and it was good.

I shutter to think how long it would take to trace those wires all the way back to their origin, I did look where they passed through the sheet metal into the back of the car, but that has a big thick grommet and all looked ok... thanks for the ideas..

Raise the tail and see if that light works. Maybe wire disconnect/broken?

OK, you may be on to something.

My car is a 99 C2, and came with a Misha fixed wing installed so there is no "other" light, just the fixed one that is in the sheet metal above where the engine cover opens.

Could you suggest what, where, I might look to see if something was left out when the wing was installed, maybe even a schematic or wire colors?
