Default Anyone go from X51 C4S to 991 yet?

I love my X51 C4S with sports exhaust, but am getting that "itch" that needs to get scratched. It looks like the cure might be a 991 - preferably in a Carrera S trim. So my X51 has 345 hp pulling about 3300 lbs. The new 991 has 400 hp pulling about 3100 lbs... about 200 lbs lighter since it's RWD vs AWD in the C4S.

So what are people's thoughts on this supposed upgrade? Do you think the performance difference would *really* justify the difference in price? I know the interior of the new one is much nicer, yada yada yada. But I'm also really turned off by that "automatic electric parking brake". I mean c'mon... Whoever decided on that at Porsche should seriously get fired. How am I supposed to do a J-turn with that?

Thoughts?

Well I felt like you for a while. Got a test drive at the loava dlr. Wonderful car...but...I prefer my C4S.
More viceral, rawer, I feeel more in charge.
In addition, the price of even a 3.4 with the options I would like make the change unjustifiable when I factor in the depreciation...
I'll wait.

My X51 just crossed 30k miles. I know that's relatively low for a 2004, but I'm thinking of making the change. I was also considering a used 997-2, maybe the last year's model, to be more financially responsible. But the interior is too similar to my 987 Boxster S that it wouldn't feel as much of a new car. The 997 has 385 hp, I believe. So only 15 hp less than the current version.

The only logical move is a MK2 GT3RS

I'm still happy with the X51 in my 04 40th AE car....

The base 991 is not that far away in HP from the 8 year old 2004 AE edition....now if you talk the S then I might be persuaded if I could afford it!

991 - no spare tire, no voltmeter in the dash, no engine oil dispstick.

C4S in one of the best looking water cooled 911s

I don't think the power difference would justify the huge price premium between the value of my X51 C4S and a 991; at least not for me.
The 996 X51 is truly underrated in actual performance imho.

Considering the low value of the 996, it is such a bargain, almost no other car can compete. The price difference is just too big.

Hard to justify paying $50k for a car that will pretty much drive the same, or actually worst...

My main reason so sell cars is usually because the interior start to look old and disgusting after a while, like cracked leather, scratch on trim.. ect... But so far my 996 is still looking so good, I actually could not decide to sell it so far... at least not for what I have been offered.
