A good read
This is why I can sleep at night!
However, the key thing for us is the
five to ten percent figure. That means
that around 90 to 95 percent of early
996s out there are likely to be free of
major trouble. And that, we reckon, is a
gamble worth taking.

Philip Raby used to head up Total 911 a UK published mag that focuses solely on 911s in case this isn't obvious from the mag's title. Well, it wasn't to me, at any rate.
I thought the magazine's title was just someone trying to be like totally you know cool and totally awesome.
Anyhow, P. Raby recently stepped down -- nothing sinister I believe he just decided he had had enough running a magazine -- and another person has taken his position.
I do not recall her name but her pic in the mag shows she's a very nice looking woman and the word is she's a good replacement for P. Raby. Bonus, 'cause Total 911 is a great Porsche car magazine.
Sincerely,
Macster.

What I get out of it more than anything is MAINTENANCE is key. Keep the oil filled to the top line of the dip stick and use the oil Porsche recommends. I've tried all weights and 0W40 helps the most with the coolant temp. Change the oil every 5K miles and drive the car, don't save it for the next owner. A car in motion stays in motion.
