I bought a schnell induction pipe (used) from ebay. Comes with the 45deg arm and a cap to blank off the secondary exit from the airbox.

It was sold as fitting 996, i have a 2002 targa... however i have a feeling it may be for a pre facelift 3.4.

Were the induction pipes different, the schell one seems shorter than my stock, i also have a small third pipe connected to my stock one and there is no mention of this in the Schnell kit.

Anyone fitted and got any views or advise ?

yep, it is. Apparently its a breather for the box. Have ordered a small bore filter to cap it off

Yes its a breather for the tip, not a breather for the air box.

Why filter it with another filter just put it back into the air box which is where it was OEM.
I don't get why people do that?.
Different if you don't have a stock air box though.

Fitted mine the weekend, I used the metal blanking cap for the resonance tube, you have to remove the airbox lid and inner resonance box from the top of the lid. The blanking cap just snaps in, I spayed mine black and ran a ring of silicon around it to ensure it was airtight. I have a 40th so I have the same breather pipe, a small3/8 breather filter from Autozone fits perfect for that.

It sounds good but I am not sure it is any better that the Gilette cap mod in terms of sound quality, maybe a little better, but not $75 better which is what I paid for mine used. Maybe a little more performance at WOT
