Please rate service of Sunset Porsche in Beaverton OR, or please suggest good independent for mechanical and or body work in this area. Precision Body and Paint works with Sunset, any experience with Precision good or bad. Maybe just a 1-10 where 10 is excellent.
I've used Sunset Porsche to purchase parts many times. Their service has been great. I won't give an actual 1 - 10 rating, because I haven't used their body shop or repair services.
I have used Fix auto which is real close to Sunset in the past to fix my WRX and my Cayenne. Quite happy with both results and the price was much better than other places dealers take their autos to.

Anyone else, any alternatives to the dealer would be appreciated. Any good independents in Portland? I actually live in Salem, but don't hold a lot of hope locally. The paint will be insurance, State Farm, so unless I hear otherwise it'll go to the body shop used by dealer. Oil change and AOS I'm considering using the dealer. The dealer won't sell me Pilot Super Sports but will mount and balance what I bring in. They quoted $1,600 for PS2's and $1,300 for perelli p-zero. Said no "n" rating and they can't sell them.
Does anyone have experience with Stuttgart Autotech in Lake Oswego Oregon?
Yes, and i prefer Alan Blanchard at A&P Specialties off 82nd Ave... Nuff Said on that.
As for Sunset Porsche... Parts Department is not bad... everything else is absolutely heart stopping awful- service and especially sales at Sunset. If I have to work with a dealer in or out of the area I prefer Carrara Motors in Bend, and best of all in the Pacific Region hands down is Porsche Hawaii. I absolutely love doing business with the Porsche Hawaii parts department and lately they have had 100% of my parts business. Too bad I cannot just drive my ride there to have it serviced too, so for that... I am back to A&P Specialties and highly trusted Alan Blanchard.
By the way, as said above by PDXJim, Fixx Auto is a good place for paint too, but the guy in Portland for Porsche paint is Steve at Outstanding Autobody off of Columbia Blvd (ask Alan Blanchard I am certain he will recommend Steve as well). I had some serious paint issues on another Porsche some years ago and Fixx Auto wanted CRAP LOADS of money to fix a paint and aluminum welding issues on a 928S4. They told me (at the time)they were aware of only one person that could do the work correctly other than them... Steve at Outstanding Autobody.
Well... Thanks to those who have replied, now I'm in a bit of a pinch, one +11 for sunset and another "awful".
I have purchased a new AOS, new oil filler downspout, and just ordered my set of Michellin PSS from Tire Rack they'll be here on Friday. The plan now is to take the parts, and tires to Sunset pay to have them installed at shop rate $125 hr, also have oil changed $179.00.
While car is at dealer, the body shop will come over to evaluate scratch in hood (light dropped on hood, no dent just 2-3 inch scratch).
Wish I had a bit more feedback, I guess just some reassurance my plan seems logical.
i'm in honolulu and buy all my parts from sunset- have no idea about anything else there. Sunset price for parts is 40%+ less than porsche Hawaii if you get rennlist price of 15% over cost- and they ship using flat rate boxes so shipping is reasonable also.
local dealer cost is more than i pay from sunset for many items such as clutch kit, shift cable, etc etc.
. I do use porsche hawaii for service and it is top notch- just great service in my opinion- can't justify paying almost double for parts here though.

Interesting... I go the other way and prefer Porsche Hawaii to Sunset and I am here in Portland. I have found Porsche Hawaii pricing on almost everything I have purchased cheaper than Sunset. My last purchase was about a month and a half ago to get a new key and Sunset was nearly 50% more than Porsche Hawaii, usually work with Hapaki Ueoka there (great guy). Unfortunately I had to go to Sunset for some more of that awful and seriously expensive service to get the key programmed but I had no choice in that matter, unless I drove to Bend, OR. to Carrera Motors.
No biggy, just my experience is different from yours I guess, and we are on opposites of the pond (LOL). My parts business is still going to Porsche Hawaii I remain a loyal customer from years back... I remember when Porsche Hawaii was under the same roof as AMVW.

Duuude, I am telling ya... yer paying way too much for that. Your choice though but A&P Specialties will be LOTS cheaper and the service will be LEAGUES better than what you will get at Sunset, heck i'd go to Stuttgart Autotech before I'd ever have my ride serviced by Sunset.... your cash and your experience though- GOOD LUCK BRO and keep a firm hand on your wallet.
Thanks, eidolon! Yeah, I hesitate to call them "stealers" but do get it. Unfortunately a year ago I paid more for a reman alternator from an independent than the "stealer" would have charged for an OEM alternator. That was just after the same dealer fed on my fears and offered me $9000 for my roller. I'm still driving the roller just need a couple fixes. Wish I had lots of free time as the answer is easy do it all myself.
