Chris is currently working on a window sticker for me, also. Does anyone with a 2002+ 996 have the "painted seat backs" option or the Tiptronic/Handbrake in "Aluminum Look" option? If so, do you have the original window sticker? We're trying to decipher the syntax for these 2 options. Currently, we think it would read:
XSA - Sport Seat Back Pntd Extr Clr
Y23 - Tip/Handbrake Lever Alum Lk
The 3-letter codes wouldn't appear on the window sticker, just the description/cost. Just trying to verify wording, abbreviations, etc. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks Vange, I appreciate you uploading the sticker. Right off the bat I noticed the "smog rating scale" was a little different than the one Chris was using. So, thanks for helping out. Looks like we nailed most everything else, except for some of the syntax on certain options.

Thanks for the interest. Working with a few of you on window stickers.
PCNA is notorious for breaking protocol on format and syntax on these things. Sometimes I wonder if there are more exceptions to the rules, or more rules to the exceptions. Its not entirely uncommon to have an identical Porsche with identical options from the same year show slight differences in the original sticker. Neither one is more or less correct than the other, and all of my attempts are to meant to emulate an existing example either way for period correctness.
I spend quite a bit of time reconciling these multi-acceptable format situations when an owner sees a draft I sent them and then finds another sticker where its slightly different. In most cases unless I've turned sloppy (and on occasion I overlook something), this is where I illustrate to owners where PCNA chooses to skin the cat multiple ways.
I could write a 10,000 word essay on some of the WTF moments Ive encountered in the 2 years I spent doing nothing but R&D. In a lot of instances there are just flat-out errors or omissions in the originals. In many ways, PCNA window stickers are a lot like PCA COAs -- short of perfection.

Chris, over at StuttgartStudios, just completed the reproduction window sticker for my 2003 C4S. It's about as spot-on accurate (given some inconsistency by Porsche, as Chris mentioned) in appearance and detail as you can get. I can't recommend him enough, if you're interested in getting one done. The link is a couple of posts up.

Interesting thread.
This just highlights the importance of saving and preserving the original window sticker, which I've been doing for each car that I buy for the last 20 years. Each time I sold my car, the buyer has been very happy to have the original window sticker as well as all the maintenance records (which I presented in a three-ring binder). I also get an extra brochure for the year of my car and save it for the buyer.
BTW, one more thing I started to do after I saw it at a concours was to make a color photocopy of my window sticker, then have it laminated.
