Default Advice for replacing this part

Hello All,

I just replaced my rotors and pads today.

This is a shot from the underneath on the front passenger side.

The red circle is where the rubber bushing went bad. Is it possible to just replace that rubber part?

There is some play (when I pull on the rotor) and rattle (when I go over small bumps).

Is this the correct part to order and do I just remove this bad part and replace?

Thanks

I believe you have a steering tie rod end circled in red, not the Pelican part you need.

Thank you so much! Will I need an alignment after I replace this piece?

If there is play in the tie rod as you say, replacing the rubber grease seal will not help. I doubt you could get one anyway. When replacing tie rods you should replace both (one each side) tie rods at the same time. Consider replacement of steering rack boots (the boot is at the other end of the tie rod than that seen in picture) is a good idea. These boots protect the steering rack which is where the other end of the tie rod connects. After tie rod replacement an alignment is required.

Robbc

I just watched videos on the break and rotor job. How difficult was the job? The vids made it look fairly straight forward. Nice work. Sorry I can't help on the alignment question I've had tie rod ends replaced but I don't recall if an alignment was performed.

Yes you will need Alignment. That part can be had for $60 @ Suncoast or Sonnen Porsche's

Thanks guys! I will order two outer tie rods and two boots.

@BSonwine, I followed the DIY posted here: http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...-instructions/

It was my first time and found it very easy to do.

A pair of these should do the trick.
