996 IMS engine issue - 2000 3.6L help.

They do not determine predictability of an IMS failure or a complete engine failure and with my Caynene TT can't even detect a catastrophic coolant pipe failure.

You have to understand how much this issue gets beat to death on this forum to understand why you are getting a bit of the runaround. There are endless threads on the topic, they go on forever and spin in circles.
I have the Guardian on mine.

This **** is seriously getting old.
Big Al, you know everything I quoted you stating above plus you are a PCA Instructor(I have no proof of this) yet somehow you do not know how to use the search function on RL.
This topic has been beaten to death, no really it has. According to the info. here on RL the 3.6 is at least as prone to the I#$% explosion as the 3.4L.(IMHO, you have ALMOST the same chance of being struck by lightning as having your I%^& detonate) Yet you start this thread by asking if the 3.6s suffer from #$^&*#@#&&&.
Mederators, quick question. Could you please HIGHLIGHT AND UNDERLINE the Admin. suggestion, at the top of the thread, to do a search before asking BS I$%^ questons!?!?!?

Hi big al. This is the info I gathered up before I bought my 02 996 with 105K on the clock. I bought the car, 4 months later, when the clutch started to slip, I replaced it along with the IMS bearing fro LN. The bearing that came out of my car looked pretty darn good fot 105K. I don't think it would have failed over the next 50k but who could say. It's a daily driver for me and was for the PO. By the way, there is an encyclopedia of info on this site about this item with viewpoints in all directions. My advice...do the research, buy the car and change the bearing the next time you have access to it. I was told by three local techs that these cars are time bombs due to the IMS. We all have to come to our own conclusions.
