Default Dealer told me G30 coolant ?

I just need to top off my coolant, so I go to a local p-dealer and he hands me G30. "I was under the impression we need G12 ?" I ask. He goes to the back, comes back, and says he has not sold that in many years. So, I ask if they are compatible, he suggest I just flush the entire system and replace it all..then he whispers and suggest i just take a sample of what is in the car now and mix them together in a bottle and see what happens. Neither suggestion leaves me with much confidence. Anyone out there using G30 or mixed it with G12 ? On the plus side there were some sweet 991s to drool over while I was there.

If you are just topping it off, use distilled water. With the large amt. of coolant in these cars, a tiny bit less dilute won't hurt anything.

Pentosin G12 (the pink stuff you're accustomed to that came in your 996), and G12+ (purple, replaced the pink G12 in 2003 or so) formulas can be mixed no problem. But, if it's been 4 or more years/50k miles since your last flush, now would be a good time to do so.

The "G30" stuff is the same as G12, it's just made by a different manufacturer than Pentosin, but it can be mixed with the G12 without issue.

I called my Porsche dealer and asked if I could use a VW/Audi coolant to top off in my car as there is a dealership close by. He said as long as it's the pink stuff I will be fine. I bought G012A8GIG for $25 a gallon.

VW/Audi coolant = Porsche coolant

Same goes for power steering fluid.

That's good to hear, since I bought it and i'm too lazy to return it. Too bad the guy behind the counter couldn't provide this advice !

The VW/Audi G12+ is readily available and well priced and as the good Capt. above states = the porsche product, just different packaging.
