Importing a 996 from Canada
New to forum and first time Porsche buyer. I live in the state of Washington. I am curious if anyone has purchased a 996 in Canada and brought it back to the US. I'm researching customs, dmv, etc however thought it may be good to hear from someone with first hand experience. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have taken few from the US to Canada, 996 only requires 2 upgrades to meet our standards, one is daytime running lights and 2 is child seat belt anchors in the back. So if you take one from Canada, it will pass US standards no problem. I had to pay 6% duty at the border as the car is not made in USA so check with you local border about guidelines.

I agree with jonny, unless there is a particular reason to buy in Canada you are way better off buying in the US, much larger selection and better prices, I bought mine in Seattle, and couldn't have found one similar, both condition and price wise in Canada near the price I paid.
