Default C4S Oil leak?

I post it for my friend's C4S with tip transmission. His car has this leak for over a year and it starts drip more now. Please see below picture. Do you know what is leaking and the approximate cost of repair. He starts to worry and if it is from the tranny, he either has to fix it or at least top up or flush the tranny.

Thanks,

Mike

take it to a car was and wash off all the dirt and grime. Keep an eye on it, look for fresh oil running down. Look for the source. Does it drip on his garage floor? If so, how much? How big is the spot? Dinner plate size, larger?, an inch in diameter?

From your pick, this could be several years worth of seepage collected. If it's making a hell of a mess on his garage floor he should have it looked at. If it's just seepage, wash the area off a couple of times a year and don't fret.

Looks like either spark plug tubes, the gasket for the variocam solenoid or the oil seal for the cam oil pump.

Thanks for the tips.
The drip is about a size of a penny after parked overnight. Will ask him to clean up the area and identify the source.
