Default Rear LEDS

Has anyone changed out the stock taillights with LEDs? I have a 2004 C4S. If so, any recommendations on brands, sourcing?

Thanks!

They are a pain in the ***... don't do it. LED's use much less electricity than conventional bulbs... as a result, you whole electrical system will be put off. I am speaking from experience.

Are considering the whole light fixture or bulbs Ive had mine in for better than a year on my 99 C2 with no issues. . Do a search and you will find several threads on rear LED's and the associated problems and solutions.

There are currently no LED replacement tail lights that fit wide body 996 cars. There is a rumor that Dectane is working on some, but they aren't yet available for sale.

I like the idea of upgrading to LEDs, but I'm concerned that the red reflector strip on the C4S wouldn't look right with aftermarket LEDs.

It would look fine if the new tail lights match the red color. If it didn't then it would look pretty bad.
I don't really see the point of led lights anyways. The stock ones look gorgeous.

All of the comments received are great points of view. Will stick with the stocks and target another project. Thanks all!

Dectane LED tailights come with resistors, therefore the Porsche computer does not see any difference and everything works fine.

I wish they made LED tails for the widebody cars. LED tails would really modernize the appearance of the car. I'm excited to hear that Dectane is working on some, they usually do a good job of making aftermarket tail lights that look like they could be OEM.

As far as style, yes. Not for the wide body, though. I have a C4S.

I love my LED tail lights, headlights, and 3rd brake light... Really makes my car look new...
But, I'd much rather have a widebody 911 : )
